"..." She was not sure if it was the half-baked joke from Gu Jinzhi or it was her sentiments, as her eyes reddened with tears. 

There could be years with us yet now I only end with a video clip few minutes long containing you being alive. 

"Gu Jinzhi, honestly speaking, are you my secret admirer?" The camera shook as Gu Jinzhi spat out the water he sipped before rolling his eyes upon her as if viewing a retard. 

"Hahaha—How funny…" Wen He laughed at the interaction in the video while the corners of her eyes were wet.

What a fool… 

"Enough talking, I'm catching some shut-eye."And Wen He took out an eye-mask to end the conversation in the video. 

Wen He thought the video would end at this point but—the progress bar stated otherwise. Her eyes enlarged as she continued loading the video cooperatively. The camera remained fixed upon her face and Gu Jinzhi did not speak a word till the view flashed by as Gu Jinzhi leaned towards a sleeping Wen He for—a kiss near her lips. 

"..." Wen He could not believe what she saw but what Gu Jinzhi said next stunned her to another realm. 

"You are right…Wen He," he whispered, "I am your secret admirer. I love you." 

"..." Wen He's mouth widened. Unlike the usual joker he was, Gu Jinzhi's eyes turned grave and serious with a hint of sorrow unexplainable until now. 

He was looking at her endearingly, like the rose in the jar to the beast.

Such kindness and simple admiration—the straight, the passionate the purest.

And Gu Jinzhi's face flushed in embarrassment. 

"Cough cough," he quickly looked away as if a 17-year-old kid asking a girl he liked for prom night.

The video ended and Wen He went back to pause at a few moments, even replayed in slow motion—as if the last few frames of Gu Jinzhi's different look were her only salvation back then.

There was no mischief in his eyes but pure sincerity. It was so near—yet so far.

Wen He caressed the Gu Jinzhi's digital face. She could not help but do so. She almost could not breathe upon thinking through the scenes.

 Wen He thought so as she teared up. She sniffed as tears rolled down her cheeks.

Huo Chen was hidden by the door, feeling heartache over the sight.

It had been three months since Gu Jinzhi was buried. Wen He was still the same, silent as before, but she was at least functional, no longer the girl who would lock herself in her room, refuse every meal and contact.
